STATE OF MIND ENTERTAINMENT
Based out of St. Louis, State of Mind Entertainment (SOME) is a music production powerhouse that features state-of-the-art equipment and emerging artists. In addition to creating their website, I was responsible for helping establish brand identity, social media channels, and several print and digital design pieces.
Here are some of the assets I created for SOME to boost their launch in the St. Louis music scene.
Please note that while I built the original website, I handed the reigns to the SOME team after it launched, and they have been handling their own edits and site maintenance since then.
In order to hype up SOME’s launch via social media, I created a promo video that featured one of the studio’s beats as the soundtrack, along with sneak previews of the studio interior, artists, equipment and behind-the-scenes visuals. Some of the behind-the-scenes visuals are from interviews and a photo shoot I held with the artists.
I used Adobe After Effects to animate the logo design, and Premiere Pro for the final video.
I reached out to a former classmate of mine, Matt Meyers, to create the branding – including that incredible logo! You can view his portfolio here.
In addition to building their website, I created social media channels for SOME and designed initial posts introducing the company, artists, studio interior, and launch party. Below are a few examples from Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
After hyping up interest on social media, I created a launch flyer that was posted in shops throughout Midtown and Downtown St. Louis for the studio’s opening launch party. Branding was kept consistent throughout print and digital assets so that people could easily recognize the company.
SOME was going for an edgy tone with clear calls-to-action and easy navigation for visitors. The homepage immediately showcases their vibe, and serves up licensing options, beat specials and even an internal music player right off the bat.
SPECIAL FEATURES OF THE WEBSITE
MINIMAL, EDGY AESTHETIC
The website’s homepage gives an immediate tone and style to SOME’s brand – edgy, hip and explicit. The call-to-action is straight to the point, and a minimal menu leaves no questions asked.
INTERNAL MUSIC PLAYER
Beats are the name of the game for this studio, and a music player was a high priority. Latest music is easily uploaded on the back end of the website, and visitors can “try before they buy” and hear quality mixing for themselves.
Since music production relies heavily on personal relationships, I spent time getting to know each of the artists in order to write a bio that really spoke to their personality. This lets people really know who they’ll be spending time with in the studio.
Most of the website hero images mimic the homepage, with minimal visuals and plenty of black spacing drawing eyes into strategic calls-to-action. The four service pillars are easily identified, and visitors know what next steps are thanks to red, contrasting buttons.
